Eastbourne has again enjoyed some nice, low particulate matter levels this week. Floating 24h average readings for PM2.5 have not risen above 8μg/m³ in the last seven days.
Reasons may include:
- the temperature during that period only dropping briefly below 11°C, so central heating systems have not needed to fire up so much.
- the wind direction has stayed away from northerly or southerly directions, avoiding importing pollution from nearby metropolises.
- the level of rainfall - over 50mm - that we have experienced in the last week. There have been a few occasions when the PM graph has dipped just as the rain begins. To mangle another song, I can breathe freely now the rain has come.
